MBC Softball Game 2

It was a heart breaker last night.  It was a tough game to watch, my heart ached for the players, but they should hold their heads up high!  They won 13 games straight to make it to the championship.  They have some really amazing ball players.  The weather was much different than the first game, creating a whole new shooting perspective.  I was down the 3B line most of the time, keeping the sun behind me, as the 1B was blinded by the sun. Notice the  mirror stance of the 2B and CF?

PA ASA Church Softball Championship – Game 1

Last night MBC team 2 lost the first game of the championship.  Since they were the winners of the winner bracket in a double elimination tournament, the series is now tied 1-1.  Tonight they play again, winner takes all.  Here are some pics from a very humid and cloudy night.  To view all the pics visit http://pics.halladayphotography.com/p461919246.

Football from the past…

Well most of you are probably just waking up now after recovering from the Super Bowl.  I thought this would be a good time to pull out some of my old football pictures.  I used to photograph a lot of high school football for the local newspaper.  Every Friday night I was out in the dark cold night fighting to photograph some football.  If you’ve ever photographed high school sports, your lighting is horrible.  When I started shooting high school sports I was shooting with a Nikon D50 and the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR.  Not a bad combination, but the D50 only lets you push your ISO’s as 1600.  It also only has a frame rate of 2.5fps.  So there I was on the side line, I had 1 shot at the getting the image, while  the guys next to me are ripping away with higher frame rates.  When the D300 came out I invested in it, and carry it with me all the time.  I also shoot with the battery vertical hand-grip so I get the extra fps and can shoot comfortably in vertical.
